If you are in sales, or simply want to get a cooperative atmosphere in a situation that you are in, you are in a beta brainwave state of alertness, and your brain is oscillating at about 30 to 40 times per second. However, the person you are speaking to is generally in an alpha daydream brainwave state, and their brain is oscillating at about 15 times per second. Effective sales and communication happens when you and they are both in a beta alert state. We will show you how to move a person from alpha to beta.
There is a portion of your brain called the reticular activator. It is constantly scanning for things that are familiar, unusual or problematic. When the reticular activator picks up on this it is in the form of a positive or negative interrupt. When the brain is interrupted, it goes through a sequence: interrupt, engage, educate, offer. Four movements interrupt, engage, educate, offer. To be at your best you must understand brainwave states and this sequence.

There is a thing in business called the cooperation spectrum. On one side there are people who do not know you or intend to cooperate with you. In psychology they use an example of an equilateral triangle; the triangle that is equal on all three sides. At the top of the triangle is who you are, bottom left is who you think you are and bottom right is who others think you are. Understanding this is key to your success. People who struggle in life going from job to job always coming up short of their goals, have unbalanced triangles. In other words, who they are and who they think they are, and who others think they are is all messed up. People who are successful have tight triangles, so that who they are and who they think they are and who others think they are is more closely aligned. Understanding people skills will help you tighten and uplift your triangle, so that who you are and who you think you are and who others think you are will more closely align.
